The Monju plant relation against Wu's rig, in the regime both were measured in
Tier 2: measurement on a controlled rig.
- What was compared
- The air-side heat transfer coefficient of a three-row bundle of annular finned tubes, as predicted by the Monju plant relation (Mochizuki and Takano, 2009, as transcribed by Wu et al.), over Reynolds numbers of 1176 to 2500, below the low-Reynolds transition.
- Against
- The low-Reynolds fit of Wu et al. (2024, Eq. 42) to their own wind-tunnel measurements on that bundle, with an expanded measurement uncertainty of 5.75% and a fitting deviation of 2.4%.
- The agreement
- The Monju relation lies within −1.0% to +4.1% of the fit, every point inside the case's tolerance of 6.2%. Above the transition, at Re 2650-4813, its high branch runs 9-12% above Wu's fit, outside the tolerance, and that range is not compared.
- What it shows
- The agreement shows that a relation fitted on a reactor's plant data transfers to a different bundle in the low-Reynolds regime, where the model uses it by default. It is a comparison of one closure with no tower in it, and the relation's own accuracy remains its source's (±20% on the low branch).
