Kröger Example 9.2.1
The same tower with its A-frames laid flat
Tier T: a textbook worked example - a published answer, not a measurement.
System: Indirect dry cooling, natural draft, horizontal array
- What was compared
- The heat transfer rate and the water outlet temperature of a windless indirect natural-draft dry cooling tower with its A-frame bundles laid flat as a horizontal array across a reduced inlet, the tower of Kröger's Example 7.3.1.
- Against
- Kröger's worked Example 9.2.1 (Kröger, Vol. 2, Section 9.2), a published calculation and not a measurement.
- The agreement
- The heat transfer rate is reproduced to within 0.90% (351.2 MW against 354.39 MW) and the water outlet temperature to within 0.055% (0.17 K), with nothing tuned.
- What it shows
- The agreement verifies that the model implements Kröger's method for an indirect tower with a horizontal array as published, including the inlet-contraction law of Eq. 7.3.5 applied outside its declared range as Kröger applies it. It says nothing about the method's accuracy against a measured plant.
