Kröger Example 8.3.1
A forced-draft bank of six bays
Tier T: a textbook worked example - a published answer, not a measurement.
- What was compared
- The heat transfer rate of a forced-draft bank of six bays of Example 8.1.1 along a 42.3 m platform with two fan rows, and its inlet flow ratio, reduced by flow separation at the platform's inlet edge.
- Against
- Kröger's worked Example 8.3.1 (Kröger, Vol. 2, Section 8.3, with Salta and Kröger's Eqs. 8.3.1 and 8.3.2), a published calculation and not a measurement.
- The agreement
- The heat transfer rate of the bank on Kröger's flow-proportional arithmetic is reproduced to −0.039% of his 73.739 MW, and the inlet flow ratio of 0.985 within the case's tolerance of ±0.5%. The model's own heat transfer rate is 74.639 MW, since on this bay a 1.5% cut in air flow costs only 0.26% of the heat transfer rate.
- What it shows
- The agreement verifies that the model implements Kröger's flow reduction for a forced-draft bank as published. It says nothing about the method's accuracy against a measured bank, and hot-air recirculation between streets is not covered.
